What to Bring on Your Chipola River Trip

A little planning keeps your paddle comfortable. Use this checklist before you drive to Campbellton. We provide boats, paddles, and life jackets. You handle clothing, sun protection, and anything you want dry at the take-out. New to the area? Start on our Lilypad Adventures homepage for trip options, then book through Reservations.

Essential gear for every float

  1. Sunscreen and lip balm. SPF 30 or higher. Reapply after two hours on the water.
  2. Water shoes or old sneakers. Rocky put-ins and sandy banks are easier with closed toes.
  3. Quick-dry clothing. Synthetic shirts and shorts dry faster than cotton after splashes or rain.
  4. Hat and sunglasses. A strap for your glasses helps if you lean over the gunwale to look at fish.
  5. Water in reusable bottles. Half-day guests often bring one liter per person. Full-day paddlers should pack more.
  6. Dry bag for phone, keys, and wallet. Zip-top bags work in a pinch, but a real dry bag floats if it slips overboard.

Half-day vs. full-day extras

Our half-day trips run about three hours. Snacks and a light lunch are enough. Full-day adventures last closer to seven hours, so pack a full lunch, extra drinks, and a small cooler if you like cold drinks on the bank. Both trips include shuttle service and basic fishing time if you bring a valid Florida license and your own tackle.

Overnight cabin guests

Staying in a riverfront cabin? Bring bedding if your reservation notes it, personal toiletries, insect repellent for evening fires, and a flashlight for walking to the dock. Grills and picnic tables are on site. Check your confirmation email for check-in time and any seasonal fire rules.

What we supply at the dock

  • Kayaks, canoes, paddles, and Coast Guard-approved life jackets sized to each guest
  • Shuttle between launch and take-out on scheduled trips
  • Basic safety briefing before you leave the dock
